Houston Dog Friendly Apartments
You should know that the majority of the apartments in Houston are allowing dogs. This also goes for cats and any other pets. But even if they do accept dogs, they seldom have rules regarding their weight or the breed.
So inform yourself about the type of dog they accept. For example, if your dog is bigger than 100 pounds, then it will be difficult to find an apartment. Many of the properties limit the dog weight to 99 lbs. The big dogs are not wanted because they can easily scratch the hardwood floors with their claws. So, if you have a big dog, it is best to get oriented towards an apartment with concrete floor because that is hard, if not impossible to scratch.
Also, in most of the cases, the term of large dog applies to ones that weight more than 50 pounds. Sure, if your dog or dogs weight 3-4 more pounds than that, the agent will not put it on the scale and measure them. But if it is bigger than that, problems may appear.
Breed is also one of the factors taken into consideration. If the breed is considered to be aggressive, then your demand for the apartment will be denied. Owners of apartments do not like aggressive dogs in the building. If you do have a dog like that, then a private home is the solution for you.
The other factor is the breed. If your dog is an aggressive breed, such as a pet bull, you will be automatically denied. A private home or apartment will be a better choice for you. Usually the properties have a list of breeds that are not accepted. So first check that list and see if the breed of your dog is there. After that you can go further.
